From Carpinteria we headed further north to our next destination, Monterey. We've enjoyed spending extended time in Monterey previously. As is so often the case these days, I'm behind on my blogging. In an effort to catch up, or at least close the gap, I'm going to forego blogging about Monterey in this blog. If you're interested in learning more about Monterey and the surrounding areas of Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach and Carmel the link below will take you to blogs on those areas.
Monterey & Pacific Grove
Of course, the journey is often as exciting as the destination, and this was true as we made our way towards Monterey. We stopped at three different spots along the way, Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay. All three were interesting and definitely places that we would have enjoyed spending more time visiting.

Pismo Beach is what you would think of as a typical, coastal California town........ |
 |
a wide beach, with mountains as a backdrop...... |
 |
and surfers catching waves on the Pacific Ocean.

San Luis Obispo is a beautiful city full of trees with a river running through it. There is a large university (Cal Poly San Luis Obispo), and a very interesting downtown. We enjoyed walking around the town and we had a nice outdoor lunch at Novo Restaurant (the Brussel Sprouts were amazing).

More friendly faces in Morro Bay! |

Like Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo, we could have enjoyed more time in Morro Bay. I guess we'll just have to come back sometime!
