I have zero musical talent in spite of taking 3-4 guitar and fiddle lessons back when I was around 10 years old. That being said, I do usually have a song playing in my head. I think I've divulged this fact in previous blogs. I'm not really sure why but I guess it beats thinking about more pressing issues like world peace or the meaning of life. Here lately one of the most frequent songs on my mental playlist is Bob Seger's Kathmandu.
In just a few weeks we really "will be going to Kathmandu"! If you're geographically challenged (I was) as to where Kathmandu is located it's in Nepal which is also home to Mount Everest. Don't worry, we'll see it but there won't be any climbing.

Before Kathmandu and Nepal we'll be visiting what we think is one of the most fascinating countries in the world, India. We've talked to a number of world travelers who have been to India. They have all shared amazing stories from their visits to this exotic country.
We typically travel independently. However, we do know our limits and for this particular adventure we're doing a tour. The company we are using operates small tour groups and I think for this particular one we will be traveling with fourteen other adventurous souls. I think everybody will be seasoned travelers, hard to imagine picking India as your first rodeo. One of the things Beth and I have talked about is how do we prepare for the sensory overload that we're going to experience. Quite honestly it may not be possible. However I do think we hit on something that may come close. We went to the local Wal-Mart not once but twice this weekend. What the heck were we thinking?
Once we finish with India and Nepal (or India and Nepal finish with us) we have one more Asian stop on this adventure. We'll be spending a week in one of the most over the top places in the world..........Dubai. That will be quite a contrast and one that I'm sure we'll be ready for and enjoy.

This trip begins on October 17 and we'll be returning to New York on November 12. Once back in the US we'll spend a bit of time in New York before heading to Texas for Thanksgiving. There will certainly be some stories to tell from this one.
